African American Wedding Reception by Jason Hennessey

The African American wedding is not your average wedding; it still carries the African traditions and heritage into the wedding ceremony and all other wedding events. Some features are however typical of the all American wedding but the African American wedding has distinct features that are hard to miss.

The wedding reception is usually an elaborate, radiant and spectacular affair where the bride and the groom are formally received for the first time as husband and wife by their friends and family. It is mostly a very glamorous affair. When planning their wedding reception, couples should not only consider their personal styles and preferences but they should also think about the possibilities of making their reception memorable and should leave a legacy if possible.

Color is what sets apart an African American wedding from other weddings. The best ways to portray this heritage is in the wedding dresses and in the decorations used at the reception. Colors that spark interest and nostalgia are the biggest trends now. Choose colors that will dazzle your guests. The color white is standard in all weddings. Choosing white that has a shimmering effect for your decorations will give a finished look to your wedding and will be heralded as a sign of respect for tradition.

The centerpiece is an integral part of any wedding. Ii was holds down the wedding and is usually placed in the centre of a reception hall. What the centerpiece will be remains the prerogative of the bride and groom. They decide what message they want to convey. More and more couples are choosing ice sculptures as centerpieces for their receptions. On wedding tables, centerpieces can be in the form of flower arrangements or the wedding favors that the guests are to take away with them.

The jumping over the broom ceremony is found in almost all African American weddings; it is a distinguishing factor. It is a tradition that originated from African American slaves and is a symbol that the newly weds are sweeping bad luck and unhappiness away as well as leaping together into married life. This ceremony is sometimes performed at the wedding reception so as to retain the purity of the wedding ceremony itself. As a symbol to signify families of both the bride and the groom, it is suggested that ribbons are tied around the broom handle. The actual action of jumping over the broom can be done at any point during the reception. It is up to the bride and the groom and their wedding planner to decide. A good time though is just before cutting the wedding cake.

The wedding favor is of great and special importance in an African American wedding. Guests at these weddings are responsible for their transport expenses, therefore giving them a favor as an appreciation for attending the wedding makes the trip worth it. Whatever the wedding favor, it should represent the faith of the new couple and their appreciation to their guests. Favors are usually placed as part of centerpieces or at a table on the doors of the venue and each guest receive one as they leave.

African Americans: A Look in the Mirror, Part 2 By Bret Searless

“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” James 1:23-24

The black community has many success stories. Condoleeza Rice, PhD is the National Security Advisor and Colin Powell is the Secretary of State to the current U.S. president. Thurgood Marshall was a judicial giant on the U.S. Supreme Court fighting for greater liberty and against injustice. Bob Johnson, founder and former CEO of Black Entertainment Television and Oprah Winfrey, television talk show host, producer and CEO of Harpo Productions have been bright and shining examples of what African Americans are capable of achieving.

Not everyone can do what these people did but we can look to their example of perseverance and triumph against long odds. Some of the greatest role models overcame abject poverty, racism, child abuse and neglect. They had excess baggage they had to shed to get to their respective goals. The book, The 7 Simple Secrets to Building Wealth: An African American’s Guide to Wealth Building in the 21st Century and Beyond, will give you some strategies you can use immediately to more elegantly overcome your personal challenges and confidently reach your goals.

On the other hand, the statistics show that our success stories are far outnumbered by the cold reality that our people are in a struggle for survival. We have a growing middle class of African Americans that are becoming increasingly separated from the rest of black America based on education, income stability and family life. As some African Americans push ahead, many are falling further behind creating an inequity between the two.

Only 13.6% of African Americans reported an annual income over $50,000 according to recent census data. That compares to 27.5% of whites reporting annual income over $50,000. We have only half the percentage of high income earners then whites do. We have twice the high school drop out rate as whites. Also, 16.5% of African Americans get a college degree versus 28.1% of whites. 32.5% of African Americans are married compared to 56.8% of whites. Finally, 44% of African American families are headed by single moms compared to only 12.7% of white families that are headed by single moms. We have an amazingly uphill battle but we must look even more closely before we can get to our solutions.

African Americans make up 13% of the population while African American men make up 66% of the prison population. Based on Justice Department crime statistics, racial differences exist, with African Americans disproportionately represented among homicide victims and offenders. African Americans have the highest violent crime victimization rates then any other group. We are six times more likely then whites to be murdered. We are seven times more likely then whites to commit homicide. And the majority of murders are intraracial. African Americans killed a whopping 94% of African American murder victims.

Furthermore, the Justice Department goes to report that based on current rates of first incarceration, an estimated 32% of African American males will enter state or federal prison during their lifetime; whites (5.9%). These are depressing figures.

The family is the place where these statistics will be turned around. Respect for life, discipline, hard work and respect for women are lessons and values that young Black boys learn best from their dads. They learn from our words, our example and through the leadership we provide in the home.

If we fail in this, our greatest responsibility, we will fail an entire generation that fought to secure our freedoms so we could realize our full potential. We will put on the chains of the slavery of poverty, prison and lack of purpose without a whimper of resistance.

The second preliminary step we need to make is taking personal responsibility for our lives and that of our families. The only way we can begin to shape the future and change our destinies is to accept our present circumstances as a fluid and temporal reality that can be changed and is never permanent however, very real, so we must take action to affect our reality.

We sometimes live as if our situation was imposed on us against our will and that we are powerless to resist. Years of conditioning make it understandable why some feel that way. The challenge is recognizing that these challenging situations and problems are truly temporary and changeable. We also want to experience the good times with greater intensity and more lasting effect. This book will provide you with strategies to do all this and will help you to view your circumstances in whatever way serves you most in getting you to your desired goals.

You’ll find that we don’t need a new leader to lead us; what we need are new leadership skills. We need an infusion of leadership at all levels in the black community and our nation needs it as well. We need African American leaders in every corner of our nation. We need African American leaders in both the Democrat and Republican parties. We need African American leaders in business and government. We need more leaders in the family and in the community.

African Americans must adopt new ideas and new thought patterns that our ancestors didn’t have the luxury to adopt in order to advance in the new economy. With all the sad statistics mentioned here, we are still standing here today at this time in history. Our country has needed us on many occasions. Even oppressed, African Americans helped build this country, fight it’s wars and turn the tide to victory from defeat.

God has a plan for America and we are an integral part of His plan for this country. More people are free around the world today because of this nation and our struggle is an example to many of the oppressed in the world of what a united, determined people can achieve.

Entrepreneurship is the key to unlocking the last chains to keep us from living out our true purpose and to become who we really are as a people. This generation of African Americans needs to tap into the power of entrepreneurship to create the kind of wealth that will truly set us free. We need to develop the required skill sets necessary for success as leaders in 21st century business. These skills truly are timeless and have been used throughout time by the captains of industry.

These skills were surely mastered by the ancient Egyptians when they built an advanced civilization and the great pyramids that cannot be replicated by any of the engineers and architects of this age. In this age, these skills are now more necessary then ever. The social experiment of communism has failed. Government cannot solve all the problems that ail people. There is no reason we should fall prey to the temptation to seek solutions to our problems from our government. Our government is extraordinarily wealthy and so is our society. The rewards go to those that provide the most service with the most value in our society. No law, regulation or tax has been able to change that. Now that our economy is switching from an industrial age economy to an information age economy, all the old rules are quickly becoming obsolete.

Failure of African Americans to adapt to this shift is economic suicide especially at a time when it’s never been easier to start a business, turn a profit and live free. Knowledge and application of the necessary skills in your entrepreneurial enterprise or at work will tilt the odds of financial security and lasting wealth in your favor despite your current station in life today.

The statistics presented show us how much work we have to do. We have always had leaders stand up at our point of greatest need throughout history. The statistics can’t tell you who they are, where they will come from or what the leaders of the 21st century will be able to accomplish but with history as our guide, we can count on it that they will change this world for the better. The only question I have for you is ‘Are you that leader?’

African Americans: A Look in the Mirror, Part 1 By Bret Searless

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced. James Baldwin

At present, African Americans stand at the crossroads of great hopes for wealth and freedom exceptional for the great-and great, great-grandchildren of former slaves and great despair caused by family disintegration, generational poverty, educational disparities and the digital divide. The threat is that we will form a permanent underclass is this new society as the demand for skilled and highly educated workers and new business owners reaches a peak.

You might not like me too much for the data I present in this chapter that reveals the depths of our situation. Bill Cosby has been speaking out about these things and has taken some heat for his coarse rhetoric. We can’t change our situation until we know what we are changing. I believe that once you see the data, you will be compelled to make some changes. If that is the case, I am confident that you will finish the rest of this solutions-oriented guide.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. Many times, the father is absolutely out of the picture. Single moms have the toughest job there is in this country. No work demands as much immediate attention and delayed gratification. You cannot pay someone enough to do this job yet the single black mom is the poorest demographic in our society. An unimaginable 39% of black female heads of household and 33% of black children are living below the poverty line compared to 18.6% of white female heads of household and 9.6% of white children. The true shame is that all odds are stacked against these families compounding every challenge normally faced with raising children into healthy, confident and independent adults. They face long odds when it comes to living in poverty, being victimized by violence, lacking quality education, low self-esteem and poor role models.

Having a loving father around is a spiritually, mentally, emotionally and financially stabilizing force needed by every child. The numbers bear this out to be true. Only 7.1% of black married couple families live below the poverty line and only 3.3% of white married couple families live below the poverty line. God created the family to consist of both a father and mother and all other arrangements are sub-optimal for children. Be that as it may, everyone must also make the best of their situation as it may be right now.

The reality is that 300 years of slavery has devastated the African American family unit. There are many African American families that are loving and meeting the needs of their children that we don’t here about that share in the values and beliefs that stable families are good for our children. The challenge is that we were deliberately denied the benefits of family for too long. Saving the African American family needs to be the number one priority of every organization that says its purpose is to help black people. A father is the first competitive edge any young person can have in this world. A young person of any race that is raised in a fatherless home has several strikes against him or her already.

Building and strengthening African American family is the first preliminary step we need to take to get started on the track to building wealth as a people in this society.

The seven critical 21st century skills outlined in the book, The 7 Simple Secrets to Wealth Building: An African American’s Guide to Wealth Building in the 21st Century and Beyond, will work for anyone however, accomplishing anything will always be more difficult for those with so many odds against them that they must overcome and being fatherless is a long odd, indeed. This data presented here is not designed to discourage anyone. Hopefully, it will encourage each of you to more carefully consider the needs of Black children and to find ways to provide them with what they need to flourish in this new economy starting with a responsible, loving father figure.

How to Maintain Your Income Stream If You Are Laid Off? by Nicole Reebi

How to Maintain Your Income Stream If You Are Laid Off?

i

The world has entered into a recession, many corporations and companies had announced their job cutting news. If you are an employee for any of the companies that have plan to reduce their company's headcounts; then, your job will not be guaranteed. The question is how you are going to maintain your income stream just in case you are being laid off and unable to find a new job due to the job opportunities have been cutting down tremendously by most companies. It's time for you to think of setting up a second income source.

If you are thinking of getting a part-time job from other company, and go to work after your day job, then you probably will have a hard time find one in today's recession situation. Then, what other ways to source for income if you can't find a part-time job?

What if you create one for yourself? There are a few ways to make your own business without the need to investment a lot of money. By using the advantages of internet and online business features that allow you to work from home, here are the 2 common ways of earning money online:

1. Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is a business model that enables you to make money online without the need to have your own product. There are many online merchants looking for marketing outsourcing. They make their products available for online freelance agents, called affiliates who will be given commission based on their sales. You can set up a website to sell a few selected affiliate products. Your role as an affiliate is to drive web traffic to your website or directly to merchant's website through a unique link that will identify you as the affiliate who makes the sale.

Affiliate marketing has been a good income source for many people either as the part-time job or a full-time income. You may consider to set up a second income source through affiliate marketing while you still with your day job. Invest some time and efforts to make it successful; it can become your main income source just in case you are being laid off.

2. Set up an online store

Unlike traditional business, you don't need to invest a lot of money to have your own business on internet. You can choose to become your own boss by opening an online store to sell physical or downloadable products. In addition, you don't need to own a product for an online business. There is a business called dropshipping where you can easily find the products you are interested in selling at your online store; buy it at wholesale price and sell it at retail price at your online store. Under the dropshipping business model, dropshippers will sell you their product at wholesale price for individual item and they will deliver the ordered items to your customers on your behalf.

You don't need to quit your day job to start an online business. In fact, you can do it in parallel and work it out for a success. The income from online store can replace your main income just in case you have lost your job due to being laid off.

Summary

Under the bad economy situation where companies are looking for potential cost cutting and headcounts reduction, no job is guaranteed. As a working individual, you need to start to think of how to maintain your income stream if you are hit by the recession wave. Internet can be the best source to set up an income online and be the back up income stream while you are still with your day job.

Interview with Michael Cheney from AdSense Videos

Interview
with Michael Cheney from AdSense Videos

Q. So what made
you get started with AdSense?

A. I
was looking for a way to monetize some of my websites. AdSense
is such an easy thing to get started with the eye for it would
be a great way to start earning more money without actually putting
into much more effort. I think as soon as you see the first earnings
coming into your account you get addicted to AdSense. I know is
what happened to me and since then I've just spent time working
out how to earn more and more each day.

Q. How much do
you make with AdSense
?

A. Some days I can earn
close to $1000 and others it's less than that. But it all comes
down to how much time and effort you devote to creating a quality
site that people like visiting. AdSense is not what my business
is based on by any means - but it is a great way to earn revenue
almost on autopilot.

Q. What is the
biggest mistake people making with AdSense?

A. Probably
the biggest mistake people make is thinking the AdSense earnings
are easy to achieve. It is very easy to get started but as I learned
it takes a lot of effort to increase your earnings. I got really
downhearted whenever I would log in to my account to see that
I had only made a few dollars. And that's when I decided to spend
months and months of my time learning everything I could about
AdSense.

I basically buried myself
away and devoured every single piece of AdSense information I
could find. I ran thousands of AdSense tests and started to see
a dramatic effect on my click through ratio and therefore on my
earnings.

This is why I'd decided
to record the videos - because I knew that it would help people
who were in my position to also increase their earnings. I've
read an absolute ton of AdSense e-book's but they take so long
to go through and always seem to keep information back.

With AdSense Videos I
knew that I had to tell the story exactly as it is and actually
show people and lead them by the hand through the exact techniques
that I use to generate large earnings from AdSense.

Q. In your videos
you show people how to increase their AdSense earnings - can you
give us a taster of this advice?

A. I
don't want to give away my biggest secrets as you can understand!
But some of the more basic things that you can do to increase
your revenues include using ads that blend in rather than stand
out from your content. Flat out the worst thing you can do with
an AdSense ad is make it look like the standard Google ad. What
you need to realise is that you will get more clicks if your ad
actually appears part of your site rather than something that's
just been dropped into the page.

Q. What would
you recommend that someone do right now to increase their AdSense
earnings?

A. I've
created a totally free AdSense minicourse that people can go through
to learn some of my techniques. It takes you through the four
cornerstone principles that I've used to build up my AdSense empire.
You can check it out, as well as all the AdSense Videos, here:

If you're looking to invest some money in forex in an automated and intelligent way - here's the program that will let you do it.

I've been into automated trading software for a while, and I am very, very impressed with the intelligence of this automated forex trading system. It's called FAP Turbo. It's just about completely hands free and has succeeded in making money making trades about 87% of the time for me.

It makes 10-20 currency trades per week, so it has really been adding up. As I say in the video, I doubled my 2000$ investment in about two and a half months.

The currency trading software is becoming very popular too, so you should check it out after you watch my video.

Check out this automatic forex trade system, FAP Turbo, at the link above and enjoy! Thanks for watching.
